Which van is right for you
- Suzuki Every or Mazda Scrum (7 seats): a family or up to seven friends, light luggage, short and medium trips. The lowest daily rate among our vans.
- Toyota Hiace KDH (10 seats): a group of up to ten, a diesel van for long routes, with more room for bags than the smaller vans.
- Toyota Hiace KDH high roof (14 seats): the largest group, with the most space for passengers and luggage.
Not sure how many seats you need? Count the travellers and the large bags: a van is comfortable when it is not full to the last seat. For a bigger party, one Hiace and one driver usually costs less per person than two cars.
Van with a driver or self-drive
For a tour, a wedding or a long route most groups choose a van with a driver, who handles the roads, parking and expressway tolls. A chauffeur-driven van is quoted for your trip, because the price depends on the days, the route and what is included. Read van rental with a driver in Sri Lanka for how the price is made, and see self-drive rental if you plan to drive yourself.
What the rate includes
- Commercial rent-a-car insurance (an insurance excess applies, as stated in your agreement).
- 24/7 breakdown support island-wide. If a roadside repair cannot be completed quickly, an equivalent replacement vehicle is provided, subject to location and availability.
- 100 km per day. Extra kilometres are billed at the excess rate.
- Airport pickup at Bandaranaike International Airport on request (see car rental at Colombo airport).
Fuel, expressway tolls, parking and traffic fines are paid by the hirer, and a refundable security deposit is taken at handover. The full price list of every car is on the rates page.
Popular van trips
Colombo airport transfers, Kandy and the Cultural Triangle, the hill country (Nuwara Eliya and Ella), and the south coast. Start from our pages for Colombo, Kandy, Ella and Galle. On steep hill roads a loaded small van climbs slowly, so for the hill country choose the diesel Hiace for a big group.
