Chauffeur Driven & Tours
Professional drivers and personalized guided island tours across Sri Lanka.
With a chauffeur-driven tour an English-speaking driver does the driving and you watch the country go by. Many visitors choose it because Sri Lankan roads are slow, busy and on the left, and a local driver knows them.
The usual routes cover the tea country around Nuwara Eliya and Ella, Yala for the safari, and Sigiriya and the ancient cities. The driver stays with you for the whole trip and can suggest stops along the way.
The tour price covers the car, the driver, fuel, expressway tolls and insurance. Ask us to confirm exactly what is in your quote.

How a chauffeur-driven tour works
You tell us the days you have, the places you want to see and your travel style. We suggest a route, match a vehicle to your party and quote. During the tour the driver stays with the vehicle, handles the roads, parking and waiting, and advises on timing and places to eat. You can change the plan on the way, within the days booked.
What is covered
Tour packages cover fuel, toll fees, driver accommodation and insurance. Most Sri Lankan tourist hotels provide complimentary driver quarters; where they do not, an affordable daily driver allowance is arranged. Confirm each item in your written quote. Our guide on how to hire a chauffeur-driven car explains how to compare quotes.
Choosing a vehicle
| Party | Suggested vehicle |
|---|---|
| 1-2 travellers | Hybrid sedan such as the Toyota Prius or Axio |
| 3-4 travellers | Crossover such as the Honda Vezel or Toyota C-HR |
| 5-7 travellers | Toyota Land Cruiser Prado |
| Groups of 8 or more | Toyota Hiace KDH van |
Sample itineraries
Popular tours include a five-day south coast trip, a seven-day loop through the Cultural Triangle and the hill country, and a fourteen-day circuit of the island. Our self-drive road trip guide lists daily driving times for each, and they work equally well with a driver.
What to send us
Send the dates, the places you want to see (or the kind of trip you want), the number of travellers and ages, and the amount of luggage. Tell us if you want a relaxed or a fast pace, whether you want to include a safari or a train ride, and the budget for hotels, so that the route fits. We reply with a route, the vehicle and a quote.
Living with your driver for a week
On a longer tour, the driver becomes a travelling companion. Agree the starting time each evening, tell him or her about any plans you have, and say if you would like quiet time. Meals are usually taken separately, and the driver stays in the quarters your hotel provides. Many guests leave a tip at the end of the trip if the service was good.
